New Delhi/Bengaluru: Alleging the Assembly Speaker, K.R. Ramesh’s delay in acceptance of the resignations, the Supreme Court on Friday ordered status quo on the July 10 plea by Karnataka’s rebel Congress and JD-S MLAs
The SC dictated its order on the issue earlier today and also observed that various issues of interpretation of the constitutional provisions arose in the case.
The SC said that it first needs to examine if the Speaker needs to decide the disqualification. SC has also ordered the status quo with regard to resignation and disqualification of 10 MLAs.
A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said the matter required a detailed hearing and schedule it for further hearing on Tuesday, July 16.
