No opportunity to submit applications to Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation
No entry for new users on the website

Udupi: It seems like all new users attempting to apply for housing on any government housing scheme websites including Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Corporation Limited (RGRHCL), Pradhan Mantri Awaaz Yojna websites do not have the opportunity to do so. The website of RGRHCL which provides approval for the scheme is not opening for new users. Thus, new users are compelled to wait until the website opens its doors for them.
Housing facility is approved through RGRHCL. The beneficiaries’ information is uploaded through the corporation’s website at GPs. The corporation’s stand is that only after the facility has been approved for the homeless and landless identified under the survey completed in December last year will the opportunity be provided for the new ones. Therefore the website doors have been shut.
But, of those who are eligible to submit the application, those who have separated from their families and need a separate house and those who have come forward to build a house after the land has been divided are now going from post to pole in their respective GPs pleading for the facility. At some places, the GP staffs have sent the applicants back and at other places, the applications have been accepted but the data cannot be uploaded via the website. Thus, applications submitted since the last 6 months have only piled up at the GPs.
Approved, but houses have not yet been built
At some places in the district, the houses have been sanctioned in 2011, but have not yet been built. A few are trying to get even more construction assistance funds. Some others have not yet built the house due to some other reason. But on the website, the names of such beneficiaries have remained in the pending list. As a solution to this problem, the corporation has now come forward to block the names of those beneficiaries who have not yet built the house even though it has been sanctioned. Unless and until this is done, new users will have to wait.
“We collect new applications. We will upload it to the website once it opens,” informs a PDO of a GP in the district. According to the survey, there are altogether 15,750 homeless and 32,455 landless families in the district. In case of Dakshina Kannada district, the numbers are 18,926 and 47,401 respectively.
Only those who were included in the survey have the opportunity. If in case, there were other specific technical difficulties, it could have been solved – Sindhu Roopesh, Udupi ZP CEO
Our priority is to provide housing to those families which have been identified in the survey. Presently, the acceptance of new applications has been stopped – Basappa, Assistant Manager, RGRHCL
