Dakshina Kannada district sees spurt in dengue cases

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district has witnessed a spurt in the dengue cases with as many as 128 persons, out of the 400 persons suffering fever testing positive for dengue in the past one week.
Meanwhile District Health officials and municipal staff have intensified survey of mosquito breeding sites and are taking steps to destroy them. In Mangaluru, the highest number of cases have been reported from Jeppu, Gujjarakere, Kannur and Arekerebailu areas.
People have been urged to maintain cleanliness and prevent stagnation of water as a precautionary measure to avoid breeding of dengue virus-carrying mosquito.
