Mangaluru: The city is facing a rise in dengue cases and the district administration has directed Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC), TP, GP and health department officials to be alert, engage in fogging and take all measures to eliminate mosquitoes.

In this backdrop, MCC officials found water accumulated in used tyres near a shop ‘Café Kart’ in Kannur on Saturday July 20. Citing a mosquito breeding centre there, the officials slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on Nishan Chandra who owns the shop. The officials also asked him to immediately clean the surroundings.

It is worth noting that a woman succumbed to dengue in Kadaba a couple of days ago and two others who died recently are also suspected to be claimed by dengue.
