MCC conducts drive against unclean sites; collects penalty from public

Mangaluru: Health Department officials of Mangaluru City Corporation have collected a penalty of Rs 85,000 from those residents who were allowing the mosquitoes to breed in their surroundings by failing to maintain a clean environment. The move comes after the department intensified it drive against unclean sites.
Various locations at Gujjarakere, Bolar, Yemmekere, Mahakalipadpu, Mangaladevi and other areas were visited by the officials who also conducted inspection. Unclean areas which were breeding mosquitoes were found near shops, business outlets and homes and the owners of such property were fined.
During the drive, the officials also spread awareness among the public regarding how to avoid diseased like dengue and malaria. They requested the public to maintain clean surroundings or else face severe action.
