Heavy vehicle movement banned along NH 169

Udupi: All heavy vehicle movement along NH 169 (formerly NH 13) which pass through Kudremukh has been banned by the order of Chikkamagaluru Deputy Commissioner Dr Bagadi Gautham.
4 small bridges which along this highway within the limits of the Kudremukh National Park are in a very weak state and the proposal sent for their repair work has been inspected by the National Highway chief engineer based on which the traffic has been banned.
Other than cars, jeeps, motorbikes, Rajahamsa bus and light passenger vehicles, passage for all heavy vehicles like bullet tankers, ship cargo container, long chassis vehicle, heavy commercial vehicle, multi-axle truck, truck trailer and any other heavy vehicle has been banned along the stretch.
Alternate route
Alternate route has been provided to heavy vehicles bearing a load of less than 15 tons coming from Chikkamagaluru via Balehonnuru – Magundi – Kalasa – Kudremukh SK border and for Narasimharajapura via Koppa – Hariharapura – Bidaragodu – Agumbe.
