Mangaluru: Following a spike in dengue cases in Dakshina Kannada district, Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil urged people to participate proactively to eradicate the larvae of the Dengue spreading mosquitoes by clearing stagnated water in their house premises.
Pointing out that dengue mosquitoes breed in the day time in stagnated water, Senthil informed that Dengue Drive Day will be observed on Sunday, July 28 between 10 am to 11 am. In this time period, he urged people to destroy the larvae in our surroundings by clearing stagnated water
Addressing the ‘Meet the Press’ program organised by the DK District Working journalists at press club on Friday, July 26 Senthil highlighted that the prevailing weather conditions give enough time for the larvae to develop. While the district administration has taken several measures – cleanliness drive, fogging etc. to control dengue it is pertinent to control larvae which grows inside our house, he said.
A 10-day free blood test camp organised for journalists at AJ Hospital was inaugurated by the DC on the occasion.
District Health Officer Dr Ramakrishna Rao, AJ Hospital Dean Dr Ashok Shetty, DK District Working Journalists’ Union General Secretary Ibrahim Adkasthala and others were present.
