Malpe: Country boats ventured out into the sea for fishing on Sunday but only a handful of the boats returned with a load of fish.

As little as 10-12 boats made a catch of prawns weighing only 200-250 kg. Most of the remaining boats returned empty handed. It is being said that the strong winds have played spoilsport putting an adverse effect fishing. Country boat fishing has also not started effectively in Byndoor and Kundapur areas as well.

On one hand, there is major drop of fish availability in sea and on the other, the adverse weather conditions during the monsoon this year has prevented country boat fishermen from venturing out into the sea and thereby also caused a losses amounting to crores of rupees to the fishing industry.
