MIA: New vehicle parking policy from August 1

Bajpe: In line with the new vehicle parking policy of the Airports Authority of India, Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) has introduced a new parking policy at the from August 1.

As per the new policy, cars and other vehicles will be charged Rs 20 parking fee for 30 minutes, while two-wheelers will be charged Rs 10 for the same time period. The charges for coaches, buses and trucks will be Rs 30 for half-an-hour, informed V V Rao, director of MIA.

The charges of parking for more than 30 minutes to 120 minutes ( 2 hours) is Rs 15 for two-wheelers, Rs 55 for cars, Rs 60 for SUVs, tempos and mini buses and Rs 70 for coaches, buses and trucks.

Post the two hour period the rate would be increased by Rs 10 per hour up to seven hours for all vehicles except two wheelers which will be charged Rs 5. The parking rates from seven hours to 24 hours will be 300% of 30 minutes to 120 minutes and every 24 hour or part thereof.

The new system will make it more comfortable for the passengers entering and leaving the airport as their passage will no longer be blocked at the entry or exit points. The vehicles will pay the charges if they enter the designated area.

Meanwhile, vehicles are not permitted to park or stop for more than three minutes at the entry and exit roads or lanes or in front of terminal building. Individuals acting in exception to the rule will be peanilsed with four times the applicable parking charges for 30 minutes to two hours slab, informed Mr Rao.

According to the details given by Mr Rao, the canopy that is fully covered is provided in front of the terminal building and entry of vehicle from the arrival side to the flyover is restricted.
