Construction worker dies after being buried alive

Bengaluru: A 20-year-old construction labourer died after being buried alive in a freak mishap at a construction site at Suranjan Das Road in Indiranagar.

The deceased identified as Narayana was a native of Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh and was employed on a contract labourer at the site.

It is learnt that Narayana was engaged in work when a sand-laden truck arrived at the site to unload the material. The truck driver did notice that Narayana was at work behind the vehicle and unknowingly flipped on the hydraulic lift and in no time Narayana was buried alive. Other labourers rushed to his rescue and rushed him to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

Indiranagar police filed a case of criminal negligence causing accidental death against the company owner, manager and site engineer on basis of a complaint by Narayana’s elder brother Pedda Narasappa.
