Police arrest youth; seize drugs, revolver, live rounds

Kasaragod: A car coming from Bengaluru was intercepted by Bekal station police and a student in the car in possession of a revolver, live bullets was arrested in this regard on Saturday, August 3. Two of his accomplices managed to flee.
The arrested has been identified as Mohammed Shakib (21), a resident of Vellimadukunnu, Kozhikode and the police are on the lookout for the absconding two accomplices. Shakib is said to be an engineering student in a private engineering college in Malappuram.
Apparently, three persons who were eating breakfast at a hotel, had tried to flee when they saw Bekal station police arrive. Even as the cops grew suspicious of their behaviour, the car with Karnataka registration number sped past them. Consequently the cops gave a chase and waylaid it a little further. While two of the three fled, one was nabbed by the cops.
During investigation, the cops found drugs and live bullets in the car. According to the police, one of the suspects who fled identified as Ashraf was a suspect in shooting incident in Palakunnu. Further investigation is being carried out.
