Conduct Dengue Drive Day on regular basis: Vedavyas Kamath

Mangaluru: Mangalore City South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath on Sunday said that dengue drive day should be observed on a regular basis in the city to control the mosquito menace.
He was speaking after inagurating the camapign, organised by the district administration and Mangaluru City Corporation in association with various organisations at his residence in Ladyhill.
The dengue drive day which has been launched in view of rising cases of dengue in the city aims to identify mosquito breeding spots with participation from people and destroying dengue mosquito larvae at the source.
“Dengue can be checked through source reduction of mosquitoes, he added.
Vedavyas urged the public to ensure that water did not stagnate in their house surroundings or terraces as these mosquitoes breed on stagnated water.
The MLA along with DHO and other officials created awareness on mosquito breeding among households in Mannagudda ward on the occasion. He further directed officials to release Guppy fish into a water tank constructed near his house.
The volunteers visited construction sites in Mannagudda and created awareness on the breeding of mosquitoes in stagnant water.
