Udupi delegation meets Ministers Rajnath Singh and Giriraj Singh

Udupi: Udupi-Chikkamgaluru MP Shobha Karandalaje and Udupi MLA Raghupathy Bhat along with a delegation from Udupi on Monday met Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and union fisheries and animal husbandry minister Giriraj Singh and requested them to speed up the proposed harbour works at Hejmady and Kodi Kanyana.
As per the sources, the delegation also requested the minister Giriraj Singh to ensure maximum compensation to disbursed to the family members of the fishermen who were on board of the wrecked Suvarna Tribhuja boat, that went missing under mysterious circumstances.
The delegation led by Shobha Karandlaje and K Raghupathy Bhat included Veljibhai K Masani, President of All India Fishermen Forum, Yashpal Suvarna President of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi District Cooperative Fish Marketing Federation, Sathish Kundar Immediate Past President of Malpe Fishermen’s Association, Malpe, local fishermen leaders like Anand C Kundar, Sadhu Salian, Dayananda Suvarna.
After meeting with the ministers Shobha tweeted, “Requested Hon Minister for Dept. of Fisheries Sri @girirajsinghbjp Ji to speed up the proposed harbour works at Hejmady & Kodi Kanyana. This will benefit the thousands of fishermen of this region & also will improve the economic conditions of the district.”
