Pacchanady: Garbage slides downhill along with rain water

Mangaluru: The heap of garbage piled up the city’s dump yard at Pacchanady slid down the hill along with the rain water as a result of the incessant rain since the last two days. This sudden collapse of a huge garbage pile has left the locals in much fear.
Due to the torrential rains since a few days, water is getting accumulated on the ground and thus the garbage pile has started to slide down.
On Tuesday, about half of the garbage pile slid down along with the rain water and barged into the farmland of a resident nearby. Since the garbage, waste and water is flowing in concert with each other, the entire area has been dabbed in stench.
There are complaints that the drinking water in the area is already dangerous and now with the incident, the danger has only increased. With the waste getting washed away along with the rainwater, there is high probability for the water in the wells located here to get further polluted.
Garbage of 10 years!
Pacchanady dumping yard has close of 77.93 acres of land. Of the land, the garbage is dumped within the limits of 10 acres, covered with mud and made level. Just beside this pile, the garbage dumped in an area of 12 acres of land since the last 8-10 years has now slid down the hill.
