BSY announces Rs. 5 lakh compensation to families of those killed in floods

Bengaluru: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa announced Rs five lakh compensation to kin of each of the six persons who died in incidents related to floods in the last few days and Rs 50 lakh compensation to the kin of the Police Sub Inspector (PSI) who was killed while handling traffic jam on NH-4 near Kittur on Tuesday.

Addressing pressperson Yediyurappa said, “Homeless people are being provided shelter, food, clothing and medicine. Additional forces and helicopters have been requested. A total of six people have been killed in the floods so far, we will provide compensation of Rs. Five lakh to their families”

He further speaking about late Irranna Latte, PSI attached to Kittur Police Station said that Rs 30 lakh compensation will be provided immediately to Irranna’s family and Rs 20 lakh will be provided to them through Disaster Relief Fund.

Apart from the compensation to the family members of the deceased, one of the kin will be offered a job, he added.

It may be recalled that Irranna Latte who was handling the traffic flow on National Highway 4 which was jammed due to floods, died after the speeding car rammed, killing him on the spot.
