Mundgod: Heavy rains break open a dam; Thousands of acres of land inundated

Yellapura: Several districts in the state are facing heavy rains giving rise to flooding at many locations putting life out of gear. Many of the dams have almost filled to the brim because of the flooding. A dam near Mundgod in Uttara Kannada has broken open and caused a disaster.
The dam which was constructed across Bedti river is 20 feet high and 910 feet long which has exploded open inundating several acres of land. Police and rescue personnel have rushed to the spot and hundreds of people residing in low lying areas are being shifted.
Water has flooded into agricultural land and it is feared that the road between Sirsi and Hubli may get submerged.
