KSRTC restarts transport via Shiradi Ghat

Mangaluru: The day and night bus service between Mangaluru-Bengaluru have been restarted via the Shiradi Ghat. Till now, the buses between the two cities were plying through the ghat only during the day time. During the nights, the buses used to ply via Sampaje Ghat. But since Tuesday, the buses shall ply via Shiradi Ghat during the night as well, informed Mangaluru KSRTC Divisional Manager K M Ashraf with Udayavani.

Mangaluru-Pune bus service resume today

The bus service between Mangaluru and Pune which was cancelled in the backdrop of the flooding in Karnataka and Maharashtra have resumed services since Tuesday, informed Mr Ashraf.

The bus service was available from Mangaluru, Udupi and Kundapur division to Mumbai, Pune and Kholapur in Maharashtra, but was recently cancelled for a couple of days in the backdrop of the inclement weather. But now that the permission has been given for travel to Pune, the bus services have been resumed. However, the bus services to Mumbai and Kholapur will be started soon, he informed.

Rs 1 crore incurred in losses

KSRTC has incurred multiple losses due to the torrential rains throughout karavali and the landslides along the ghat sections. With the closure of Shiradi and Charmadi ghats, close to 265 scheduled trips had to be cancelled because of which, KSRTC Mangaluru division incurred losses of more thean Rs 1 crore, informed the divisional manager.

Train service cancelled

Ernakulum – Okha train no 16338 scheduled for Wednesday has been cancelled. The train 22150 between Pune and Ernakulum functioned only between Panvel and Ernakulum on Wednesday.
