Belthangady: As soon as there is a natural calamity, the National Disaster Response Force rushes to the affected location. The NDRF team has been working continuously and tirelessly since more than a week to protect the victims at Belthangady.
Even amidst the dangerous flooding, the work of the NDRF team to make sure no lives were lost during rescue operations is appreciable. The 24 member team of the 8th battalion of NDRF from Ghaziabad had pit their base camp at the premises of Belthangady Model school and are ever ready to provide any assistance.
The team is led by Inspector Rajendra Bisht under whose leadership, a control room was opened to receive calls from the inundated areas and carry out rescue missions.
Rescue through the use of ropes
This very team had rushed to rescue people stranded in floods with absolutely no connectivity. They also protected small children by wading into chest deep water. They were also assisted by local youths. Their efforts is successfully rescuing more than 300 stranded victims in Belthangady taluk with no connection exemplifies bravery and is truly appreciable.
Operation equipment
The team was equipped with four boats, four OBM, 25 life jackets, 50 lifebuoy tubes, two small engine boats, and rescue and communication equipment.
This is the first time we have visited Belthangady in connection to rescue missions. It is a terrifying image. Our job is to forget about our families and worry about the people in trouble. We have rescued an 87-year-old woman from Chibidre and over 100 people from Anaru, Farlani and Banjarumale by wading into the overflowing river. We have rescued people by using ropes and distributed the food provided by the government to the victims – Rajendra Bisht, NDRF Inspector
