Mysuru: Disqualified MLA H Vishwanath on Wednesday urged the state government to investigate the increasing phone tapping cases in the state.

Addressing presspersons at a press meet at Mysuru press club Vishwanath said, “Phone-tapping is rapidly increasing these days. The previous coalition government did resort to phone-tapping. I was the state president of JD(S) during that time. The then chief minister from JD(S) himself tapped my phone calls. When asked, H D Kumaraswamy in his reply said that he didn’t have faith in me.”

He further alleged, “After resigning, I received a call from the CM’s office asking me to take back my resignation saying my phone was tapped. Phones of all the 17 rebel MLAs have been tapped.”

” Speaking over phone is my right. It is a punishable offence even if I tap my wife’s phone. They have tapped our phone calls. This is also one of the reasons for us to resign,” he added.

He then requested Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa strict action against those people involved in phone tapping cases.
