Kollur temple elephant Indira no more

Kollur: Ambika, the temple elephant of Kollur Mookambika temple has died due to ill-health aon Tuesday night.

The elephant was suffering from fever since the last three days. Although the animal was treated with local medicine, the fever did not subside. As the fever increased, veterinarian Dr Vinaya from Sakrebail in Mangaluru was called and he treated the elephant. However, the elephant failed to respond to the given treatment and breathed its last.

The elephant had been given to the temple as a donation by a devotee from Balehonnuru around 22 years ago.  Presently, the elephant was 62-years-old and was provided special facility at Kalyani hill located around a couple of kilometers away from the temple.
