Gold worth Rs 4.15 cr seized; one arrested

Kasaragod: The customs team at Kannur International Airport here have seized 11.299 kg of gold from 4 persons. 2.916 kg of gold was seized from Amsheer (30) of Panuru Mogeri Makul Pidiga who arrived in a Go Air flight from Dubai, while 2.913 kg of gold was seized from Arshad (25), a resident of Wayanad Palakunnu who arrived from Sharjah in an Air India Express flight.
2.566 kg of god was seized from Mohammed Basheer (57) of Kozhikode Pudupadi while 2.899 kg of gold was seized from Abdulla (33) a resident of Bengaluru who arrived from Riyadh via Air India Express.
The estimated worth of the total seized gold is put at Rs 4.15 crore, inform officials.
One arrested for possession of foreign currency worth Rs 21 lakh
Kasaragod: The customs team has seized foreign currency worth Rs 21 lakh which was being illegally brought taken to Dubai at Nedumbasshiri International Airport. A person identified as Latif Viran Kunni from Hosadurga Kolabail has been arrested. The accused had been to the airport in a bid to go to Dubai and the currency was found in his baggage during inspection. The officials inform that of the entire seized currency, around Rs 19 lakh worth were Saudi Riyals and the rest were UAE dirhams.
