Kopal: A 30-year-old robbery case accused wanted by Karnataka police for escaping from their custody in August last year has been arrested from suburban Borivali on Wednesday, police said.

The accused, Satish Kallappa Chavan, was picked up near the Don Bosco junction on Link Road in Borivali west by unit 11 of crime branch on a piece of specific information, an official said.

Chavan had been staying in the area since last few months with a new identity, he said, adding that he had also changed his appearance to mislead police.

Chavan has various cases pending against him at Kopal (rural) and Hiranbagewadi police stations in Karnataka, the official said.

The accused had escaped from police custody when he was being shifted from Belgaon Central Prison to Gadag rural police station in August 2018, he said.
