Maruti S-Presso, the upcoming hatchback of Maruti Suzuki is all set to hit the Indian roads on 30th September. The S-Presso is the production version of the Future-S concept of Maruti, which made its debut at the 2018 Auto Expo. It will be an entry-level compact crossover expected to be positioned between the Alto K10 and the WagonR hatchbacks.

The S-Presso has been spied testing several times and from the spy pics, it is very clear that the upcoming Maruti will also get a tall-boy design similar to the WagonR. Unlike the other Maruti hatchbacks, the S-Presso will feature an SUV-inspired design with squared-out proportions and bold front-end. As a segment-first feature, it will be getting the touchscreen infotainment system with rear camera.

The spy pics also revealed the presence of a central-mounted speedometer and large cabin space on its interior, chunky front and rear bumpers, dynamic central control, best-in-class ground clearance along with standard safety features including ABS with EBD, dual airbags, rear parking sensors, front seatbelt reminder and speed alert system.

The engine powering the new S-Presso will be the Alto K10’s BS6-compliant 1.0-litre Petrol unit that will come paired with a 5-speed Manual and AMT gearbox options. The three-cylinder DOHC engine produces 67bhp power at 6,000rpm and 90Nm of peak torque at 3,500rpm. A 1.2-litre Petrol engine is expected to be offered later.

The Maruti S-Presso will take on the likes of the Renault Kwid and Datsun redi-GO.
