Mangaluru: In the backdrop of the opposition leaders blaming union government of failing to release compensation to flood victims in Karnataka and the incapacity of the state government to convince the union government to release the compensation, former chief minister Siddaramiah will be visiting the flood-hit areas of Dakshina Kannada on Saturday Aug 31.

Speaking about the former CM’s visit to the district, former MLA Mohiuddin Bawa informed that the CM would be arriving at Mangaluru International airport at 10 am and then proceed to visit the victims of the garbage landslide at Mandara in Pacchanady where around 27 families are suffering as heaps of garbage from the dumping yard slid downhill. The affected families have been relocated to the Karnataka Housing Board Colony in Kulshekara. The former CM will then visit Bantwal, Belthangady and meet flood victims. During Siddaramaiah’s visit, all flood victims should be present and place forth their grievances, which will help him to mount more pressure on state and central government to release compensation, he informed.

Later in he evening, Siddaramiah will address party workers at the Town Hall at 3 pm and hold discussion regarding MCC elections which will likely be held in October.
