New motor vehicle law may get implemented in DK within 3 days

Digilocker, mParivahan documents accepted

Mangaluru: The new motor vehicle act which has drastically increased the penalty for violating traffic rules may get implemented in Mangaluru city in the next three days.

The process of updating the software to the revised penalty amount has almost been completed. Experts from Bengaluru have arrived to take care of this process, informed Police Commissioner Dr| Harsha.

It has been decided for the strict implementation of the new rules. Along with this, the action to spread awareness among the people will also be undertaken, informed the cops.

The penalty collection was implemented in Udupi district since Thursday informed DSP Nisha James.

Digilocker, mParivahan documents accepted

Documents submitted through Digilocker and mParivahan apps are accepted according to the motor vehicle act and is considered to be equal to the documents submitted by the transport authority. Hence, when the department undertakes checking, the required documents may be shown through digilocker or mParivahan apps.

The union government’s new motor vehicle law in connection to road transportation came into effect as of Sep 1st nationwide. Already, some states have implemented the new rule and are collecting heavy fines from those who violated traffic rules.
