Depressed IFS officer commits suicide

Bengaluru: A Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer committed suicide on Sunday at his flat on Doddaballapura road in Yalahanka.
The deceased has been identified as Awtar Singh (52), he was serving as Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Joint Managing Director, Karnataka Forest Development Corporation, and posted at Aranya Bhavan.
As per the sources, Awtar allegedly hung himself to the ceiling at his flat.
Awtar was suffering from bipolar disorder but the exact reason that drove Singh to take the extreme step is yet to be ascertained. Apart from health issues, it is also speculated that work pressure or any other office related issues may also be the reason, informed police sources.
Reports also claimed that Awtar had resumed his duty on Sunday after returning from leave.
