Mangaluru: Officers of the various departments in the district and well-wishers visited Sasikanth Senthil at the Deputy Commissioner’s bungalow on Sunday and requested him to withdraw his resignation.

Clearly refusing to withdraw his resignation, Mr Senthil said, it is not possible for me to carry out my duties contrary to the principles of the doctrine I believe in. Therefore I have given my resignation, he clarified.

After submitting his resignation, Mr Senthil remained uncontactable on Friday and Saturday. He visited the new DC and held discussions with her on Saturday evening. On Sunday, he was at the DC bungalow.

To Chennai on Monday?

Senthil conversed with officials and his well-wishers on Sunday from morning to afternoon and in the evening; he left on a private car from the bungalow. He will possibly be returning back to his hometown Chennai on Monday, inform sources.

Decision in a few days

Speaking with his well-wishers, Me Senthil informed that he would be taking the decision regarding his future course in a few days and will visit Karnataka again.

Will not comment on allegations

Answering to a question by media Mr Senthil said, I will not spoil my mind regarding the allegations. I believe that I have carried out my duties honestly and with dedication. It is true that when I was the DC, I took strict action against illegal sand mining. A few, who did not like it, are now coming out with allegations. I will not answer to that, he explained.
