Nidpalli: Corpse of the person washed away in a river found

Puttur: The corpse of a person who went missing and was suspected to have fallen into a river at Anaje in Nidpalli has been located seven days later on the banks of Sire river near Irde Pallittadka Dargha Sharif. The victim is identified as Pakkirappa Naika alias Purandara (50), a resident of Ajaladka Artimule in Olamogru village.
On Sep 7th, Purandara had left for day wage labour and never returned back. When his family went in search of him, his umbrella and a slipper was found about a kilometer from Ajaladka near Nidpalli Anaje vented dam. In this backdrop, it was presumed that he might have fallen into the water ther.
A search for the victim was launched with the joint effort of the fire service personnel, NDRF, locals and the police and lasted till Tuesday, but to no avail. However on Friday morning, his corpse was located 5 km away from the incident location.
The corpse was identified based on the inner wear and clothing. A case in this regard has been registered at Sampya police station.
