Insufficient evidence: Rohit murder case suspects acquitted

Mangaluru: Four men suspected of murdering Rohit and attempting to kill his friend Roshan Roche near KSRTC bus stand on May 8, 2016 have been acquitted by sixth additional district judge on Friday, September 13. The accused are Jagadish, Shivaji, Gautham Chandra and Yashwanth.
Incident Synopsis
On May 8, 2016, at about 4.30 pm, Rohit was waiting with his friend near KSRTC bus stand, Mangaluru to get into an auto to go to A J Hospital when the suspects arrived in an auto from Bejai church road stabbed Rohit in his stomach, beat him up with wooden log, stones and murdered him. The accused also severely injured his friend Roshan Roche before fleeing.
The accused were arrested by Barke police based on cases registered against them under IPC section 302, 307, 324 and 334. Hearing the arguments and counter arguments in the case, the court acquitted the suspects due to lack of proof and witnesses.
Advocate of Mangaluru Raghavendra Rao, K Gauri Shenoy and Supriya Acharya had argued the case in favour of the suspects.
