Bengaluru: A class 10 girl student, who was battling for her life after coming in contact with a high tension wire while playing on September 14, succumbed to her injuries at the Victoria Hospital on Wednesday, September 18.
The victim, Sheik Arifa (15) and her neighbour Mohsin (9) were playing on the terrace when the latter came in contact with the low-hanging high tension wire dangling dangerously near their building and fell down. Arifa who rushed to help Mohsin also came in contact with the wire.
Arifa’s mother, Ghousunninsa Begum rushed both children to K.R. Puram government hospital with the help of neighbours. Subsequently, they were shifted to Victoria hospital.
Arifa succumbed to her injuries in the wee hours of September 18 while Mohsin’s condition remains critical.
Arifa’s father Shaikh Jainullabudden, in his complaint, alleged that though Bescom officials and the building owner were notified about the high tension wire dangling dangerously close to the building, after a spate of heavy rains, they ignored the problem.
The K.R. Puram police registered a case of death caused by negligence against Bescom officials and building-owner, Raja.
