Skin, horn of poached Blackbuck seized, four arrested

Mangaluru: In a shocking proof of wildlife poaching being prevalent in the district, the forest squad officers on Monday arrested four poachers, who were trying the sell the skin and horn of blackbuck near KSRTC bus stand Bejai.

The officers also seized blackbuck skin and a horn.

The arrested are identified as Ravi Hanumanthappa (32), Mallapa (32), Tippu Sultan alias Munna (33), Parashuram R Ramani (32).

The forest squad after learning that a team of poachers were selling skin and horn of the blackbucks near KSRTC bus stand Bejai, a team of forest officials led by Purushotham M carried out the operation and nabbed the accused.

Forest squad team officer Jaganath Shetty, Praveen, Uday Naik, Mahesh, Devaraj, Devika and Sundar Shetty also took part in the operation.
