Mangaluru: In what is likely to leave college students and their parents a very relieved lot, Mangalore University has directed its affiliated colleges to declare Dasara holidays from September 30 to October 15.
A circular in this regard has been issued by the University’s Registrar to the principals of the autonomous and all other colleges, with which it is affiliated.
It may be recalled that Mangaluru South BJP MLA Vedavyas Kamath had requested Primary and Secondary Education Minister Suresh Kumar to sanction Dasara holidays for schools and colleges in the district from September 30 onwards.
“As Navratri rituals commence from September 28 special puja, homa, etc are held at Devi temples. If the leave is granted from September 30, instead of October 6 it will be beneficial to the district people,” he said.
