Mangaluru: Astronomy enthusiasts will know on how it is possible for an astronaut to walk on the surface of the moon. Yet, how would one feel to walk as an astronaut on the surface of moon here right on earth in front of the Central Market in the city which is no different to the crater ridden surface of earth’s natural satellite.
Out of concern to the pothole ridden roads in Mangaluru and with plea of “Give freedom from potholes”, a 6th std girl student wore a made up astronaut’s suit, walked on the pothole ridden road as if on the surface of moon and has gone viral on social media.
The video has been shot with a unique concept representing the pothole ridden roads of Mangaluru as the crater ridden surface of moon among which walks an astronaut. The aim of the unique method of protest is to sensitize the Mangaluru City Corporation of the state of the roads which are no different from the surface of the moon, full of craters and rocks.
Inspiration from an artist from Bengaluru
Recently, an artist from Bengaluru had shot a video in the same way and shared it on social media and in the same manner, the protest has been held in Mangaluru also. The video in question was shot on the night of Sep 20th around 10 pm and has gone viral on social media.
The city’s MCC civic group has sent a request to the corporation requesting it to repair the road full of potholes but to no avail. In this backdrop, Arjun Mascarenhas and Ajoy D’Silva had decided to to protest in a unique manner. Aydlin D’Silva studying 6th std at a private school in the city became the astronaut for the unique protest!
