Hosahitlu beach needs to be developed

Byndoor: There are many opportunities in Byndoor taluk to develop tourism there. Several naturally adorned locations here inviting tourists here. One among these tourist attractions is the Hosahitlu beach located within Kirimanjeshwara GP limits and it needs to be developed with assistance from the tourism department.

Naturally beautiful area

Excluding Maravanthe and Someshwara, Hosahitlu beach has one of the largest beach expanses. It is located 15 km away from Someshwar and 10 km from Matavanthe. It is only 800 M from the national highway. People from hundreds of villages including Khambadakone, Heruru and Navunda come to this beach in the evening to enjoy the sunset. Thorny vegetation which is usually absent along the beach has outgrown by 200 M. There are close to 200 fishermen families living from Adragoli to Hosahitlu area. Benches have been installed here under the leadership of the Hosahitlu Friends Council with assistance from donors.

Grant has been approved, not released

In 2010, the locals here had submitted a proposal concerning the development of Hosahitlu beach. In response to this demand, the then MLA asked the tourism department to submit a report regarding the development of the location. The department crated an estimation of Rs 98 lakh for the complete development of the beach. The plan also included hi-mast lights, roads, restrooms and parking. Later, Rs 15 lakh were sanctioned by the tourism department during the last term. But since there is no clarity regarding what work needs to be done using the amount, no work has started. Presently, in the backdrop of the special attention given to tourism by the state and union government, the locals opinion that the development of Hosahitlu beach be taken up soon.

 The department must come forward for development

Hosahitlu is one of the beautiful locations along the coast and the district administration along with the tourism department must make up their mind for its development. In the first stage, attempt must be made to provide basic facilities here. The representatives of the people must work towards the release of the funds – Santhosh Chandan, Hosahitlu Friends

Development phase by phase

Special importance has been given for the development of tourism in the constituency. A letter has been sent to the department to fulfill the requirement of basic facilities at Hosahitlu beach and Rs 15 lakh will be released in the first phase. Importance will be initially given to sea erosion and road requirement and the development will be followed in phases – B M Sukumar Shetty, Byndoor MLA

Special importance

A proposal has come for the development of Hosahitlu beach. With recommendation from the MLA, Rs 15 lakh has been sanctioned to take up the most essential work including drinking water and road under the first phase. The department is giving special importance for tourism development along the coast – Chandrashekhara, Assistant Director, Tourism Department, Udupi
