Panemangaluru: Three jump into the river; woman dies

Bantwal: Three persons jumped simultaneously into the Netravati River from Panemangaluru bridge located along the Mangaluru-Bengaluru highway and a woman among them has died.

It is being said that the trio arrived in an Eeco car bearing Mysuru west number plates, got out of the car, first threw their dog into the river and they themselves plunged into the water.

The victims jumped into the river from the new bridge and the woman was brought to the surface by some youths near the old bridge. It is learnt that she was rushed to the hospital and she breathed her last there. They have not yet been identified.

Some say that the other two victims were a man and a child, while other say that it was only the man and the woman.

The car in which they had arrived has been found. Bantwal town police have visited the spot and conducted investigation.
