SL Bhyrappa inaugurates Mysuru Dasara

Mysuru: Celebrated litterateur and Saraswathi Samman awardee Dr SL Bhyrappa on Sunday inaugurated the Naada Habba by offering prayers and showering flowers on the presiding deity placed in a specially decorated silver chariot.
Bhyrappa along with Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, District in-charge Minister V Somanna offered ‘pushparchane’ to the idol of Chamundeshwari Devi that place in Silver Chariot, as the mark of the inauguration, after Chief priest of Chamundeshwari temple, N Shashishekara Dixit offered puja.
Meanwhile, the Dasara Sports Torchlight, which will travel for 330 kilometres, was handed over by Somanna.
MLAs Tanveer Sait, G T Devegowda, L Mahendra, S A Ramdas, MP Pratap Simha and others were present on the occasion.
Tourists arriving in the city for the Dasara festival can look forward to other events too, which will begin on Sunday, including a five -day film festival, 12 -day Dasara Aahara Mela , that will provide a choice from over 100 varieties of regional food specialties from across the state and country and a few parts of the world, a 11- day flower show at Nishad Bhag, the 90- day Dasara exhibition, Dasara Wrestling and Book Mela.
The birth centenary celebrations of Mysuru maharaja of old, Jayachamaraja Wadiyar have been included in the Dasara festivities this year.
