Uppoor: Youth who set himself on fire dies

Brahmavar: A youth who suffered grievous injury after setting himself on fire, succumbed to his injuries on Thursday. The deceased is identified as Ravi (24), a resident of Laxminagara here.

On Wednesday, the victim first drenched himself with kerosene and then set himself on fire. However, he was soon rushed to Udupi district hospital from where he was later shifted to Mangaluru Wenlock hospital for further treatment. But, the victim failed to respond to the given treatment and breathed his last.

It is being said that the victim was an alcoholic and must have committed the act in his delirium. A case in this connection has been registered at Brahmavar police station.
