Farangipet double murder case: Prime accused nabbed

Bantwal: The main accused in the double murder case which had occurred two years ago at Farangipet was captured by Bantwal police at Kankanady on Wednesday.

The accused is identified as Jabbar, a resident of Maripalla in Bantwal taluk and was on the run since the incident. He was arrested by a police team led by police inspector T D Nagaraj and rural PSI Prasanna. The accused has been presented in the court and has been remanded to 15 days of judicial custody.

Incident synopsis

On the night of Sep 25, 2017, a fight had broken out between two groups at Farangipet. One group was from Kannur while the other was from Maripalla. During the fight, Riyaz and Fayaz f Kannur were murdered. Besides, several youth ended up injured.

The police had arrested altogether 12 persons in connection to the incident and the main accused Jabbar however, was on the run. Besides, he had also managed to escape abroad.

But the cops, gathered information which suggested that the accused had returned back to the country via Nepal and was residing at Kankanady.
