People pay last respects to Dr Kadri Gopalnath

Mangaluru: People and well-wishers paid their last respects to Saxophonist and Padmashree awardee Dr Kadri Gopalnath, whose mortal remains were kept for public viewing at mini town hall of the city and will be cremated with state honours on Monday, October 14 at his hometown.
Dr Kadri Gopalnath’s funeral procession started from his residence at Devikatte at Padavinangady in the city at 9 am and proceeded to mini town hall, where his body was kept for public viewing from 10 am to 2 pm. Meanwhile, his disciples and other artistes presented Swaranjali, a musical tribute to the late saxophonist.
In order to make sure that no inconvenience was faced by those who arrived for viewing the mortal remains of the renowned artiste at the mini town hall, all basic infrastructure facilities including drinking water were provided.
The mortal remains of Dr Kadri Gopalnath was taken to his native place Sajipa in the taluk of Bantwal and the final rites will be held along with state honours as per the tradition of Jogi society.
