Kasargod: A tanker transporting LPG toppled on National Highway-66 between Mangaluru and Kasargod at Adkathbail here on Wednesday October 16 morning.
The tanker was moving towards Kasargod when the driver is said to have lost control over the vehicle and it toppled.
Since a gas leak is suspected from the vehicle, police evacuated residents, in a radius of one kilometre of the accident spot to safer place. Power supply to the area has also been cut off as a precautionary measure. Traffic along this route was also diverted on alternative routes.
Fire tenders were rushed to the spot and water was sprayed on the fallen vehicle to avoid any combustion from happening.
Meanwhile the oil company representatives have begun the task of offloading gas from the overturned tanker to another tanker.
