Byndoor: A person, who was driving the car died on the spot, while another was seriously injured, when the car in which they were travelling collided with an oncoming truck at Sunkadagundi Bridge near Shiroor.
The deceased is identified as Nithesh Mogaveera (23), a resident of Vandse while the grievously injured person is Santhosh Shetty (20), and has been admitted to a hospital.
The force of the impact between the two vehicles was so strong that Nithesh’s head bashed right into the windshield, sustaining severe head trauma which claimed his life on the spot. The front part of the car is totally damaged and the locals found it a real challenge to retrieve Nithesh’s corpse from the mangled vehicle.
Apparently, the right side road on the bridge was opened for traffic just two days ago as the bridge is being repaired and the turn here very dangerous, causing many accidents.
The deceased owned a hotel at Bagalkot since a year and was on his way to home to attend a religious ritual, accompanied by his friend Santhosh. It is presumed that the accident occurred since it was raining heavily and car went out of control.
