Thokkottu: Train hits two men crossing tracks; One killed, another seriously injured

Mangaluru: Two men crossing railway tracks during torrential rains were hit by a running train at Thokkottu on Thursday evening which resulted in the death of one person.

The victims of the incident are identified as Subhash (24) and Manjunath (26) from Haveri Anekallu Hunasi. Both of them are construction labourers. Subash lost his life on the spot while critically injured Manjunath, was admitted to a local hospital.

Incident Synopsis

The two men were crossing the tracks towards their rented house in Thokkottu when the unfortunate incident occurred. The duo were in a hurry to reach their home since there was heavy downpour accompanied by lightning and thunder on Thursday evening and in their hurry, failed to  hear the sound of the approaching train that led to the unfortunate incident.

According to the railway police, only the side of the train hit them as they had crossed the tracks already. The railway police have registered a case in this regard.
