City central bus stop at Pumpwell
Decision taken during the smart city advisory committee meeting

Mangaluru: The Smart City Ltd. has decided to construct the city central bus stop at Pumpwell in accordance to the original proposal. In this way, the proposals to construct the bus stand at Kuloor and Padil has once again returned back to Pumpwell.
Information regarding this was provided by Mangaluru Smart City Ltd’s managing director of Mohammed Nazeer during the smart city advisory committee meeting held at the DC office under the leadership of DC Shindu B Roopesh.
Speaking at the meeting Mr Nazeer said, the decision had been taken to construct the city central bus stand at Padil. In order to acquired land for this purpose, it was published on papers but no response was received. In this backdrop, the decision has been taken to construct the bus stand at the 7.5 acres of land at Pumpwell which has already been acquired by Mangaluru City Corporation. The final decision will be taken during the core committee meeting post which, the tender process will be started. Proposal has been created to construct the central bus stand at the cost of Rs 445 crore.
Wenlock, Lady Goshen hospital development
There is a proposal for 4 facilities including 30 bed emergency ward and 100 bed ward at the cost of Rs 45 crore for Wenlock district hospital. A proposal has been placed before the hospital concerning the widening of the road via Milagres IMA to Wenlock, closure of the road from the present railway station to Milagres and the joining of the two blocks of the hospital there. There is proposal for the addition of another floor at the coast of Rs 5 crore, to the newly constructed building at Lady Goshen hospital by MRPL, informed Mr Nazeer.
The DPR for the development of Mangala stadium at the cost of Rs 10 crore and Urwa Maidan at the cost of Rs 5 crore is in progress and has been asked to be submitted by Oct 31st, he informed.
Multi-level car parking
The tender has been passed for the construction of a multi-level car parking at the old bus stand and the work order has been issued. The tender has been won by a company from Bengaluru. There are altogether 5 buildings in this area and 22 shops. The parking complex will constructed including them. The work has not yet started due to the delay in coming to an understanding between them and the corporation. The MoU will be signed soon and the work will begin immediately. Parking space for altogether 400 cars and 200 two-wheelers will be available, he explained.
