Mangaluru: A senior citizen living in an apartment near the warehouse at Mannagudda died after accidentally slipping and falling in the bathroom and the death came to light after a delay of two days. The deceased is identified as Krishnamurthy (79).
Originally from Mangaluru, he was residing with his wife and children for several years in Bengaluru. However, as his business was mostly in Mangaluru, he had taken an apartment near the warehouse at Mannagudda in the city. Whenever he had to attend business in Mangaluru, he used to come and reside for that period in the apartment. In the same way, he had arrived to the apartment around two days ago.
After Krishnamurthy reached Mangaluru, he failed to call back to his wife or children and hence out of doubt, his family called him on his mobile phone. Since he failed to receive any of the repeated attempts of call, the family contacted the watchman of the apartment and asked him check if everything was alright.
When the security guard reached the flat, its main door was locked from the inside. His repeated attempts of the call bell did not illicit any reaction from within the flat. Later, he informed of the situation to Krishnamurthy’s relative in the city.
Sometime later, the door was opened in the presence of Barke police by breaking its lock and Krishnamurthy was found lying dead inside the bathroom.
Barke police have registered a case of unnatural death.
