Bengaluru: Disqualified MLA H Vishwanath on Sunday admitted that he and other disbarred MLAs resigned to help BJP form government.

Addressing presspersons here H Vishwanath said that he and other disbarred MLAs resigned from their party so that BJP could form government in Karnataka and they were not happy with the JDS-Congress Coalition government.

He further added that all the disqualified MLAs would join the saffron party soon.

The then Assembly speaker, K R Ramesh Kumar, had disqualified 17 MLAs which eventually led to the fall of the JD (S)-Congress coalition government headed by then chief minister H D Kumaraswamy.

Kumaraswamy had resigned as the chief minister after losing the trust vote which paved the way for the BJP-led government in Karnataka under incumbent Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.
