Fiona murder case: Compol says accused killed sister out of jealousy

Mangaluru: Following the arrest of Samson Cutinho in connection to the murder of his sister Fiona Swedal murder case, City Police Commissioner, Dr. PS Harsha on Monday held a press conference and provided details of the case.
Speaking to reporters here, Dr. Harsha informed that Samson was an engineering college dropout and a drug addict. He had developed an animosity towards his sister as he felt that his parents favored her over him.
Samson confessed to murdering Fiona, out of jealousy. and later dumping her body in the forest behind their house during the police investigations, informed the Police Commissioner.
Unaware of her murder, Fiona’s parents lodged a missing complaint at Konaje Police Station when she didn’t return home. The girl, being a minor the police began immediate investigations into the case and even enquired with her friends. However, they did not get any leads.
A thorough investigation revealed that her mobile phone was last active in near her residence itself and the police began probing the internal angle into the case. Family members were subjected to intense questioning and Samson confessed to the crime, Dr Harsha informed.
Samson has been sent to judicial custody after being produced before the magistrate.
