Catholic Sabha demands Rs 25 lac compensation for Wilson Fernandes’s family

Mangaluru: Members of Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh led by president Rolphy D’Costa on Monday, October 28 met Deputy Commissioner and submitted a memorandum demanding Rs 25 lakh compensation from the hospital for the family of Wilson Fernandes.
The 26-year-old died of electrocution near Kallapu, Thokkottu here on Friday, October 25. Following the incident, Wilson’s body was kept at the mortuary of a private hospital here. However, when his family members came to collect the body for the final rites on October 27, they were shocked to find it in a decomposed state.
Irked by this, family members of Wilson staged a protest outside the hospital. The situation was brought under control after due intervention of former Minister U T Khader and police officials.
Later the hospital management issued an apology letter expressing regret over improper management of the cold storage and the anguish caused to the family members of the deceased.
On Monday Rolphy D’Costa met the Deputy Commissioner and demanded justice for family members of the deceased.
