Mangaluru: A youth from Thokkottu who became the victim of a job fraud and was stranded in Kuwait for 15 months is all set to return home with the help of some expats.

Nelson who was working as an autorickshaw driver in Mangaluru got in touch with a person through social media. The man is said to have helped him to get a driver’s visa in Kuwait. As the offer was good and he wanted to support his family he sold his autorickshaw for Rs 30,000 and paid it to the agent as commission. Nelson also booked tickets and made other arrangements for his travel.

In Kuwait, however he was given all other works apart from driving. Moreover he was not given any salary and his employer did not allow him to return to India by claiming my contract is for three years. After few days Nelson ran away from his job place and took shelter at his friend’s place where he came in contact with James Paul Karkala, Mohandas M Kamath and Robert D’Souza who helped him return back to India.

Thanking James Paul Karkala, Mohandas M Kamath and Robert D’Souza, Nelson said, “It’s because of them I am able to get out of here and will be able to return to my native. They helped me a lot, which included running from pillar to post in Kuwait government offices in between work for nearly five months.”

“My Kuwaiti owner abused me and made me work for longer hours and also had booked absconding case against him, which is the serious case in Kuwait,” he added.

However, with the help of James Paul Karkala, Mohandas M Kamath and Robert D’Souza, Nelson finally got his temporary passport and will be returning to his Native soon.
