Leakage from LPG tanker creates tension in Uppinangady

Uppinangady: Panic gripped Uppinangady and nearby areas following leakage from a bullet tanker on Monday morning.

As per the sources, the tanker belonging to Total Gaz was carrying LPG from Mangaluru to Bengaluru and the tanker developed leakage after the lid came off when the vehicle reached Uppinangady.

Following the incident an announcement on the microphone of a local mosque warning people against setting fire anywhere in the vicinity. Meanwhile, National Highway was closed for traffic movement.

However, local police reached the spot and controlled the gas leakage in over-an-hour operation.

Meanwhile, the local residents expressed anguish against Fire Brigade alleging that despite being informed about the incident along with the police, the fire brigade team from Puttur reached the spot nearly after 90 minutes, by when the gas was contained already.
