Navayuga’s contract to be terminated if it fails to meet deadline: Udupi DC

Udupi: Udupi district deputy commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesha on Tuesday, November 5 informed that a final ultimatum has been issued to Navayuga company and its contract will be terminated if it fails to finish the Padubidri national highway work and kundapur flyover within the stipulated time period.

Speaking to media persons here the DC said that a meeting was held with all the stakeholders on delay in completion of work and the company has been asked to complete the work on Padubidri NH Kundapur flyover by January 15 and March-end next year respectively.

The DC informed that as per the tender notification, Navayuga company can collect toll only after finishing 75% of work and if they fail, toll collection should be stopped. “A final ultimatum has been issued and the company’s contracts will be terminated if they fail to meet their assurance,” he added.

Regarding the issue of road safety, the DC said that a report prepared by the district superintendent of police (SP) stressing on the need for basic infrastructure facilities such as street lights, etc has been submitted to NH officials.

Responding to a query on the change of venue for Kannada Rajyotsava to Mahatma Gandhi Stadium in Ajjarkad instead of Beedinagudde, the DC said that henceforth all national festivals will be held at the stadium as people have expressed that Beedinagudde is located in city outskirts and surrounding areas are not clean

Ganesh Prasad Pandelu, president of Udupi District Working Journalists Association, Kiran Manjanbail, state working committee member, Santhosh Saralebettu, general secretary, and Diwakar Hiriyadka, treasurer, were present.
